Reflections from our Chairperson
How good it is to be out of winter and into Spring, with all the flowers blooming, birds singing and longer warmer days. It makes us all feel much happier so we smile more and enjoy being outdoors without having to wear winter woolies!
Recently we've had a lovely afternoon tea to celebrate 90th birthdays for two of our special residents. They are both amazing for their age and they really enjoyed being able to celebrate their special birthday with their Waterford friends and we hope all the fathers, grandfathers, great grandfathers and father figures had a wonderful Fathers Day with family, friends or both.
The village also put on a sausage sizzle for us all. Everyone who went enjoyed themselves and the staff did a great job barbequing the sausages and catering for us.
Our cake and slice competition was a success and we were able to try an array of sweet treats. Kerry C's hummingbird cake was the cake winner and Elaine B's apple slice won the slice section. Our talented resident performers Les & Thalia entertained us with their lovely singing. We've also just enjoyed a lovely spring evening sharing food on the terrace last week to celebrate the Spring Equinox. ☀️🦋 🐝🌸🌿
The football season is coming to an end with the Brisbane Lions winning a very close and exciting AFL Grand Final and the NRL Grand Final will be decided between the Newcastle Knights and the Sydney Roosters this Sunday 4th October.
Daylight saving starts this Sunday 4th October so don't forget to turn your clocks forward an hour before going to bed on Saturday.⏰ It is always lovely to to enjoy the longer daylight hours and spending more time outside enjoying BBQ's or time with family and friends.
This year is going way too quickly with less than 90 days until Christmas! The supermarkets and retail stores are already selling Christmas supplies and gifts.
Please take good care of yourselves, stay as active as you can and enjoy the lovely spring days.
